Ubuntu - Installiamo i nuovi driver nVidia 260.19.36 Display Drivers su Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick

nVidia ha recentemente rilasciato i nuovi Driver 260.19.36 i quali vanno a correggere vari bug rilevati nelle versioni precedenti.

Su richiesta di alcuni lettori di LffL abbiamo deciso di creare i nuovi PPA dedicati ai driver nVidia. In questi nuovi PPA troveremo sempre la nuova versione stabile dei driver nVidia. Oggi abbiamo integrato i nuovi driver 260.19.36 per Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick¹

Le novità dei nuovi driver nVidia 260.19.36:

• Updated the NVIDIA kernel module to ensure that all system memory allocated by it for use with GPUs or within user-space components of the NVIDIA driver stack is initialized to zero. A new NVIDIA kernel module option, InitializeSystemMemoryAllocations, allows administrators to revert to the previous behavior.
• Fixed a bug that caused X servers version 1.9 and higher to crash when color index overlays were enabled.
• Fixed a bug that caused pixel value 255 to be treated as transparent in color index overlays.

Per aggiornare/installare i driver nVidia 260.19.36 su Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick basta avviare il terminale e digitare:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/nvidia
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-current-modaliases nvidia-settings

al termine riavviamo le nostra Distribuzione e avremo i Driver aggiornati.
